Amman, November 12 – The Crown Prince Foundation today concluded the first edition of the 2025 School Athletics Championship, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Jordan Athletics Federation (JAF).
The closing ceremony took place under the patronage of Dr. Nawwaf Al-Ajarmeh, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education for Educational Affairs, on behalf of H.E. Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The event, held at Amman International Stadium, was attended by Dr. Tamam Mango, CEO of the Crown Prince Foundation, and Rami Abu Arabi Al-Adwan, Chairman of the Jordan Athletics Federation (JAF).
In a statement Wednesday, CPF said that the championship was organized in alignment with the vision of HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, to empower youth in Jordan, develop their skills across various fields and disciplines, and provide quality opportunities to showcase their potential and discover their talents within a competitive platform that fosters excellence and creativity in sports.
CPF added that the championship aims to empower and cultivate a capable generation of athletes, and to promote the culture of school sports through national partnerships and joint efforts with the Ministry of Education and JAF.
CPF emphasized the championship’s role in identifying and developing athletic potential at an early age, and in instilling the core values essential to empowering future generations, such as self-confidence, teamwork, perseverance, discipline, commitment, and competition, by providing a stimulating school sports environment across the Kingdom.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Dr. Ajarmeh praised the joint CPF-JAF efforts in coordinating and organizing the championship, which saw the participation of nearly 8,000 male and female students from various schools across the Kingdom.
For his part, Al-Adwan emphasized the importance of this partnership and championship, which marked a new beginning and is expected to expand further in the coming years. He noted that this collaboration helps supply national teams across all categories with new talents, which will have a positive impact on the overall level of sports in Jordan, and athletics in particular.
The championship, which began last May, featured multiple qualifying rounds at the school, district, and regional levels, with three running categories: a 60-meter race for sixth and seventh grade students; a race for eighth, ninth, and tenth grade students; and a 100-meter race for eleventh and twelfth graders.
The closing ceremony, held Wednesday morning, included the preliminary rounds, during which 96 students competed, with 48 advancing to the national finals. The ceremony also featured a segment showcasing inspiring Jordanian sports success stories, and hosted former national footballer Mohannad Mahadin, as well as Asian Games gold medal winner in taekwondo Juliana Al Sadiq.
The ceremony concluded with 18 students receiving trophies and medals in recognition of finishing in the top three positions of their respective categories. Referees and winning directorates were also honored for their contributions to the championship’s success, in an atmosphere that highlighted the spirit of fair play, competition, and achievement.
CPF, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and JAF, is preparing to launch the second edition of the championship, continuing its efforts to broaden participation and encourage more students to engage in sports activities, thereby helping to discover and develop promising young talent across all governorates.
