Amman, Oct. 25 – The Crown Prince Foundation (CPF) held a series of panel discussions and dialogue sessions today, Saturday, during the second edition of the Maker Collective, with the participation of 17 experts, innovators, and entrepreneurs. The sessions focused on innovation, technology, digital manufacturing, and entrepreneurship, providing a platform to exchange local and global experiences in these fields.
The event featured five interactive panel discussions throughout the day, in addition to a series of short, inspirational sessions held in a dynamic space covering diverse topics. Local and international experts and innovators shared their experiences, highlighting original ventures, innovative projects, and emerging technologies. with the aim of enriching attendees’ knowledge and offering varied insights in a concise, engaging, and interactive format
A keynote address was delivered by international innovation expert Daniele Ingrassia, who spoke about open-source digital fabrication machines and their role in advancing accessible engineering solutions worldwide.
The session covered multiple themes, including discovering passion in Fab Labs, open-source projects in innovation labs, building custom machines, developing specialized operating systems for machines, and documenting and sharing projects within the global innovation ecosystem. It also reviewed several publications and research studies in the field.
Another session, titled “Patient Specific Healthcare: The Role of Digital Fabrication”, brought together experts from medical and technological sectors to discuss the potential of digital manufacturing technologies in developing advanced medical solutions and creating personalized tools that meet individual needs with higher precision, reflecting the integration between the innovation and medical sectors.
The session “Rethinking Hardware Investment: Risks, Rewards and Realities” examined industrial investment in the era of digital transformation, the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in developing physical products in a changing market, and opportunities for growth in innovation-driven manufacturing sectors.
Through these sessions, the forum aimed to provide a platform that brings together creative minds, young talents, and experts to exchange knowledge and ideas, explore ways to promote a culture of innovation, and encourage the adoption of advanced technological solutions, particularly digital manufacturing, across all sectors of tangible product development.
The forum also featured an exhibition with over 114 participants from academic institutions, designers, and independent creators, alongside hands-on workshops and interactive activities for all ages. Visitors experienced technologies such as 3D printing, CNC machining, and laser cutting, central to modern fabrication labs.
Through the Maker Collective, CPF aimed to empower youth, foster creativity, and enhance knowledge exchange, aligning with Jordan’s vision for a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy.
